Walk around Lake Hakanoa, Huntly (2mins away)

1 hr easy walking around the picturesque lake. Boat ramp, fishing.

Waterworks Walk (20mins walk each way) - Hakarimata Walkway

This walk follows Mangarata Stream through attractive bush up to an old dam. Built in 1910, this 750,000 litre reservoir, was once the town supply for Ngaruawahia.  Avoiding the sun, it is a pleasant, shady walk.

Kauri Grove walk - Hakarimata Reserve, Huntly (5 mins drive)

Only 30min walk to kauri grove, and a range of other walks up to 6 hours.  Read more here

Lake Puketirini, Huntly (5mins drive)

A deep water lake and multi-sport recreation area including boat ramp; approx 1 hr easy walking around the lake. This lake used to be an open cast mine, approx 80 metres deep. Great for summer swimming, or jumping off the jetties. NZ's 2nd largest diving school also uses this lake.
